Tall, narrow, still a little awkward as he finishes growing into his man's height around 6'2", the best things about Adam are all in the potential. Someday his face will fill out around that hard jaw and cheekbones and he'll have the same hard-lined facial structure as his half-brothers. Someday he'll figure out that the half-and-half floppy/spiky haircut from high school has to go and he'll get a cut that actually flatters his face. Someday the last of the softness will come off his chin and his face will fine down to something handsome instead of merely intense.
But for the moment he's a decent-looking kid with a too-intent look in his eyes. A young man who's lived through too much pain, see too many horrors. The haunted twitchiness of him doesn't match the bone structure or the soft hands. He's just too broken to be attractive.

[app]Overall Personality:[/app]
Used to be that if you asked people about Adam and what you'd get is that he's a 'nice kid.' And he was. His mother raised him to be a good person and whatever ways he rebelled as a teenager he didn't reject that. He was an Eagle Scout, a B average student with a partial scholarship. He came home from college one weekend a month to visit his mother and helped out around the house, he was polite to girls he took out on dates, he was just all around a Nice Kid.
But even then there was anger under all the politeness and do-right morality. Anger at his father's willingness to take off and just show up to do parenting stuff three or four times a year. Anger at his mother's acceptance of what Adam perceived as poor treatment. Anger at a world that doesn't see how essentially wrong it is for families to be so casual and scattered.
And then he was murdered for being his father's son. And then he was resurrected for being his brother's spare. And then he was lied to for being the next-best-thing vessel. And then he was shoved into the cage. And then he was left behind so that Sam could be saved. And now he's not a nice kid any more. He doesn't know what he is, but he's angry and he's damaged and he just doesn't get what it is about him that puts him so far beneath his half-brothers, but if he ever figures it out he might cut it out of himself with a knife.

[app]Overall History:[/app]
Born in Windom Minnesota to Kate Milligan, a nurse and a single mother who gave him a good life. Childhood in the suburbs, everything he needed but not everything he wanted, just as it should be. What he lacked was a father, in early childhood his Mom always just told him that his father was traveling, but that they were all fine.
His Dad turned up when Adam was about twelve. John would pop in three or four times a year, there'd be baseball games or fishing trips. Dad stuff. John tried to be there for the big events in his life, but didn't always make it. When Adam graduated high school his father gave him a fairly hefty check to help pay for U of W, which is the last time Adam saw him.
Partway through his first year of premed, Adam was eaten alive by ghouls right next to his mother's corpse. The sick thing is, if it had ended there he'd be incredibly grateful. A year later he was brought down from Heaven for a lie, kidnapped by his brothers, taken by Michael, tortured until he agreed to be the vessel despite having learned that everything he'd been promised was bullshit, and then shoved into the Cage as Michael's meatsuit. When Sam got rescued a few months later, Adam was left behind. He stayed there for a year, watching as Sam's soul was retrieved, left alone with the still-warring brothers.
And then last week he woke up in the bedroom of a vacation house in North Carolina. Castiel was there, tried to explain something but Adam bit open his own wrist for the blood to paint an angel-banishing sigil on the wall and he's been running since.

The clockwork arms skittered up the grated walls, gore-clotted claws hooking into the irregular holes between iron rods. Choked by the smell of hot metal and cooking blood and a thick, chemical scent that in his mind was always axle grease. Michael laughing with his sharpened teeth showing, Lucifer talking, always talking as he worked, that endless pleasant chit-chat that turned into something worse than the pain. Burns feel cold before they feel hot, there's a hard spot of chill and the smell and sound of burning meat, the heat doesn't come until later.
Scenes of his childhood ripped out of his mind and twisted into a nightmare carnival of truth-as-lies, played out in front of him over and over as Lucifer laughed and asked if he was sure his mother had never resented him? A woman alone, raising a son fathered by a man she still loved but never saw, why wouldn't she sometimes look at the boy who was so much more like her than he was his father and wish it hadn't happened?
And just as Adam gathered enough courage to yell defiance, to scream that his mother had loved him, that she'd been the only one in his entire short life who had, that's when Michael would step up behind him and the burns would begin again.
Adam sat bolt upright in bed, sweating and panting, his heart pounding despite the quetiapine he'd scored from a guy at the grotty bar he'd been drinking in tonight. The clock read 4:09 AM, but the way his heart was going told him that there was going to be no more sleep tonight. He'd gotten about two and a half hours, that was as good as it got generally, so he rolled out of bed and headed for a shower to wash the fearsweat and sedatives away.
One nice thing about this particular shitty motel, there was a twenty four hour diner in the parking lot. Adam pulled on clean clothes and grabbed the Kindle that he'd stolen out of a lawyer's briefcase, his room key and the secondhand wallet loaded with somebody else's money and headed out, intending to go get himself a cheap meal of eggs and hashbrowns and eat and drink coffee and read until his head was too full of fiction to have any room for reality.
