It's safe to assume that the only articles of clothing Bobby owns are an old pair of jeans, t-shirts, a vest, a handful of flannels, and his fake-agent suit. His hair is more salt than pepper, and is disappearing more and more each day. Not that you'd know under that dingy, white and blue hat he always has facing forward on his head.
He does try to keep him beard and mustache neat, though they vary in length depending on how much trouble the Winchesters are in at any given moment. He's aged well, and is actually a handsome man under all that sarcasm and motor oil.

[app]Overall Personality:[/app]
Bobby is a hunter. It's not just what he does, or even what he is, it's who he is. Ever second of every day is spent worrying about what goes bump in the night, and protecting people from those things.
He's extremely resourceful and keeps a level head in a crisis, while still quick to act on instinct. He's stubborn to the point of recklessness, in which even if he realizes something he put into motion might not be the best choice, he still follows through with it anyways.
He is well versed in demonology and the occult, spending nearly every waking moment researching something for someone, gathering intel or supplies, covering for other hunters via phone personalities, and even giving step by step instructions on how to go about killing any number of creatures.
The majority of his role in the hunting world is done from his Salvage Yard, because he's not as young and able as he used to be, but his pride prevents him from ever, ever admitting such a thing, and he is still entirely capable of getting the job done on site when he's needed.
He shrugs it off when people try to connect with him emotionally, he's just not a touchy feely type of guy, it takes someone who knows and understands him to realize that it's all just a wall he puts up to try and keep himself from getting hurt. He's lost too many people he loves to ever fully let his guard down again.
Last but certainly not least, Bobby is loyal. He would die for the Winchesters and a handful of other people in his life without so much as a second thought. He's selfless and willing to make sacrifices to help those same people or to benefit the greater good.

[app]Overall History:[/app]
(Then)
Bobby grew up in Sioux, South Dakota, the only child in an incredibly dysfunctional family. His father was a mean and abusive drunk, often beating both Bobby and his mother when he went off on one of his binges. Bobby distracted himself by throwing all of his attention into learning about cars, trucks, and the auto industry, as well as taking an interest in firearms. The latter interest proved useful on the night he shot and killed his father, protecting his mother's life. The body is still buried in the Salvage Yard (along with several others he's accumulated along the way.)
His mother never quite recovered after the incident, and the two only grew further and further apart over the years. Once Bobby was on his own, and out from the shadow of his parents, he met the love of his life, Karen. They were married shortly after meeting, and they lived their lives together as a normal couple, still deeply in love, until one night when Bobby came home to find his beloved wife possessed by a demon. He didn't realize it at the time, all he knew was that his wife had gone of the deep end in a way that could not have been anything natural or believable. He saw no other choice but to kill her in a physical struggle, something he has never forgiven himself for after learning the demon could have been exercised.
Something he learned from Rufus Turner, the hunter that exorcized the demon from Karen’s body and taught Bobby the basics of the hunting world. They became fast friends, both having a no nonsense personality, and traveled together. This continued for years, until something happened on a hunt in Omaha, Bobby made a bad call, someone Rufus loved died, and it's a transgression that has never been forgiven.
Bobby met John Winchester when he was just starting out, the two were far from friends when they first encountered one another. Bobby though John was too-young, too-desperate for revenge, and a total pain in the ass. They did eventually become friends, though again, something happened between the two of them that put them at odds later down the road. He's always had a bond with John's boys, and took to looking after them one and off from a very young age.
(Now)
In a cliff notes version: John died, the devils gate opened, Sam died, Dean died, Sam came back at the expense of Dean’s soul. Dean came back when Castiel ripped him from perdition. Ruby got Sam addicted to demon blood. Dean and Sam killed Ruby, and Lilith, Lucifer rose. Sam took Lucifer into his vessel, Michael took over Adam, Castiel died, Bobby died, Sam pulled Adam, Michael, Lucifer and himself into the cage. Castiel brought Bobby back to life and pulled Sam out of Hell, without his soul, not necessarily in that order.

*smack!* A slapping sound came from the first floor den, turned Bobby's office, at almost perfect seven minute intervals. The older man was hunched over his new desktop computer, frowning deeply at the piece of technology in front of him.
It seemed as though the idiot who put this thing together made it just high-tech enough to be too difficult for him to figure out on his own, (and God forbid he actually read a manual,) but not high-tech enough that he could just bark orders at it and it would do exactly what he wanted it to. How did he know? He had tried that possible option about two hours in with no success.
He'd only bought the new computer because the old one gave out on him, and Sam insisted that he have one on hand, if only so the Winchesters could utilize it when they were local. And he was only trying to use it now because while he had always taken the time to make the necessary phone calls and in-house visits when other hunters needed his help and information, not everyone operated that way, and he had key information on Dean's heart-snatcher just waiting in his inbox.
"Oh, balls." He sputtered, tossing the mouse onto the desk, "would it'a killed ya to make a house call?" He was talking to no one that was even remotely within hearing range, but still, bitching always made him feel a little better even when there was no one to bitch to.
He sighed, irritated that he had to call for help, but he picked the phone up and dialed anyway. "Sam. The damn computer box is broke."
